Walter West had a much different experience than most men had during the Second World War. After training in the
United States, Walt was sent to Greenland, 300 miles above the Arctic Circle. He spent one year of Isolated Duty
on Greenland from 1945 to 1946. During the time he spent in the Arctic Outpost, Walt became very interested in
the culture of the Natives and since the end of the War, has gone back to Greenland many times. He will share a
pictorial history of experiences.
