Dr. Eugene J. Richardson, Jr., together with a very select group of young African American men, served as combat
pilots in the Army Air Force. They received their training and earned their wings as pilots at Tuskegee Institute
in Alabama. Their accomplishments and abilities as "Tuskegee Airmen" are a key part of the Air Force's
history.
