Unsung Hero ~ Panzer Stopper

Col. David E. Pergrin was commander of the celebrated 291st Engineer Combat Battalion, one of the rough, hard-working U.S. Army engineer combat units that literally paved the way from Normandy to the Rhine and beyond. They built 77 bridges, 19 under enemy fire, including the first bridge across the Rhine. Noted author and lecturer, Col Pergrin has been featured in four WWII documentaries on the History Channel and has lectured frequently at both West Point and the Army War College. He will use portions of the History Channel videotape "Unsung Hero ~ Panzer Stopper" to introduce his talk about the 291st Engineer Combat Battalion action in blocking German Panzer units from participating in the Battle of the Bulge.
