Hiding from the Nazis in Belgium
Dan Goldsmith is a survivor of the Holocaust. He was never sent to a concentration camp. He hid from the Nazis
in Belgium for more than six years until the end of World War Two. He and his sister were hidden by their mother
and placed into the care of different Catholic Homes in Belgium. He was captured once, but escaped and was taken
under the care of a Catholic Priest. He was later placed in the care of a Catholic family, where he hid in their
attic. Dan's father was sent to Aushwitz and never returned home and his mother lost her leg in a bombing raid
during the war. Dan along with his mother and sister came over to the United States after the war. Dan will present
a slide show of pictures taken during his hiding and pictures from his return trip to Belgium.
